Hi, I'm Morgan

Partner & Lead Financial Planner

Growing up in a family business and spending the first ten years of my career working alongside my dad, I've experienced firsthand the delicate balance between building wealth and protecting the people who matter most. That journey, including navigating a business exit and starting ventures of my own, shaped how I think about financial planning. Money is personal. It's about your hopes and dreams as much as it is about security and taking care of the people you love. It's never just about the numbers.

I understand what it means to make high-stakes decisions about money, whether you're growing a business, preparing for retirement, or navigating the complexities of family wealth across generations. My goal is to help you make confident decisions that serve your full financial life, not just one part of it.

At Trailhead Planners, we maintain an intentionally focused, fee-only practice serving entrepreneurs, retirees, and families in Minneapolis-St. Paul and virtually across the country. Our Virtual Family Office approach coordinates tax planning, investment management, and wealth strategy so every part of your financial picture works together.

I am the author of "Money with Purpose: Receive the Dividends of an Undivided Financial Life" (Wisdom Editions, 2019) and the forthcoming "Don't Die At Your Desk," scheduled for publication in late 2026. As a CFA® Charterholder, Certified Financial Planner™, and Certified Exit Planning Advisor™, I guide entrepreneurs, retirees, and families through the complexities of building and sustaining lasting wealth.

Beyond finance, I'm a musician and currently the lead guitar player for my band, Stone Arch Rivals. I love to travel, and I’ve worked, studied, and traveled throughout Central and South America. You'll often find me exploring Minneapolis's beautiful lakes and waterways with my wife Naomi and our children, Alba and Hugo.

Favorite Hike: Lava Lake near Big Sky, MT, is a beautiful hike to a stunning, but freezing, mountain lake. I’ve hiked it solo and with family and friends, and every time has been special.

Bucket List Travel Destination: I love medieval history, and I’ve told my wife that when I retire, I want to spend 3-6 months visiting as many castles as possible in Europe. Visiting the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, was one of the highlights of my life. I can’t wait to see more!
